Ages 12+ (Fall 2019)

Ballet is a classical dance form that can be mastered by itself or used as a technical base or supplement to other dance forms. Classes focus on overall body alignment and awareness with emphasis on proper usage of feet and legs and execution of turnout. Carriage and usage of upper torso and arms are also stressed. Traditional barre work, center work and combinations are included in all classes

Hip Hop encompasses movement that has elements of poppin’ locking, and breaking, as well as freestyle movement, which gives students the opportunity to develop their own sense of style.

Jazz dance is a form of modern dance which is heavily influenced by the sounds, rhythms, and techniques of jazz music. Like jazz music, this type of dance is highly individual, with an emphasis on showcasing individual skills, and dancers who specialize in it are skilled at improvisation as well as working with other dancers to achieve a desired look and feel

Lyrical dance is very similar to ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet with the freedom, fluidity, expression and airier aspects of jazz, contemporary and modern dance

Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor as a form of percussion

Pointe is when dancers dance on their toes with the use of special shoes. Dancers must have taken Pre-Pointe prior to this class as well as taking 2 ballet classes while in this class along with teacher approval. One class may be Pre-Pointe.

This class will help the dancer improve their flexibility and strength of their body. The focus will be on understanding how to use their body and muscles properly to enhance stretching and strengthing for technique. A yoga or Pilates mat is recommended for the dancers comfort when doing exercises on the floor.
